ABOUT ME

I am a psychotherapist with a private practice in Boca Raton, Florida. My credentials include a Masters Degree in Social Work from Barry University, Miami, Florida and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with the state of Florida as well as Virginia.

I am a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and an experienced EMDR practitioner.  For over over 20 years I have been helping individuals, families and couples to overcome their adversities and lead more enriched lives. I am deeply committed to the people I help and the inner work that I feel honored to facilitate them with. My past work includes years of experience working with child and adult trauma in a number of therapeutic settings, including in and out- patient mental health facilities and private practice over the years. I have helped clients with a range of problems from severe, chronic, mental illness to situational adjustment difficulties in daily life.

As a trauma therapist, using EMDR, body-centered therapies and relaxation techniques that quiet reactivity and increase tolerance for strong feelings, as well as my past experience and skills as an Anger Management therapist, many clients have successfully shifted from a limited place of fear and loss, into an increased level of functioning, with new happiness and self-worth. For some, the changes have been rapid, within a few sessions and for others it has been more of a process with steady change that increases over time. My belief  is that it is our birth-right and we deserve to live our lives feeling whole, valued and happy to be alive.  To that end I empower and support my clients to define their own lives, have relationships that enliven and support them as well as the ability to continue growing and expanding.

In the early years of my work with children, I observed over and over again that children of parents who were unhappy with each other and in a state of conflict, did not do well and had many problems. I came to understand how important couple’s work was and gravitated towards helping the parents of these children. As I have grown as a therapist I have found Imago therapy to be the most effective method for connecting couples.  Imago Relationship Therapy, developed by Harville Hendrix (Getting the Love You Want) offers a way to accept and support each other's differences while staying connected in a loving way. I believe such relationships can alter the dysfunction that gets passed from one generation to another by one couple' transformation. I have come to delight in my work with adults. Working on oneself especially with the support of a partner, is one of the most profound and life changing experiences one can embark on. Therapy is a gift that one gives to oneself

Although  a major part of my work as an Imago therapist is with couples, there is an important aspect of Imago that relates to individuals and how they come to choose the people they date and eventually spend their lives with. In my work with singles I integrate the Imago concept and  addressed the needs of singles to understand the patterns of their relationships as they relate to their needs for love and acceptance.  I believe that within relationships lies the answer to healing. I am deeply committed to helping adults in partnership with another or not,  with or without children move from a lonely place of hurt and despair to a level of safe, contentment with hope for the future.

I have learned as much from my clients as they have from me. I have the utmost respect for the resilience and ability to grow that I have witnessed over the years. As a married person myself, my own life and marriage has been enriched by practicing and living the  Imago way.  From my personal experience with the process, I have a strong empathic connection to my clients and their struggles into wholeness. This process has helped me to connect to my clients with the compassion that only comes from a sense of personal knowingness. It is vital to me that the journey I ask my clients to embark on is one that is familiar and realistic and most importantly, one that I am fully equipped to guide them through. I am passionate about my work with others and committed to the people who seek my help and the process of self-discovery that I facilitate them with. My work is truly my heart’s desire.
